Naval Medical Center San Diego ADP

We engaged stakeholders at Naval Medical Center San Diego (Balboa Hospital) to establish a vision for the hospital campus and produce an area development plan (ADP) that makes smart use of limited site area, enhances mobility of staff and patients (both driving and on foot), and provides an environment that promotes the well-being of personnel and visitors. We developed a capital improvement plan (CIP) with short-, mid-, and long-term action items that respond to the established planning goals and support Navy Medicine West’s (NMW) future development plans. Our ADP’s solutions include parking strategies that optimize available capacity, improved circulation at the main entry control point (ECP), enhanced pedestrian movement of visitors and resident wounded warriors, and a reimagining of the hospital’s central plaza to provide a welcoming and active space that embodies stakeholders’ vision for the campus.
