San Clemente Island Facilities and Land Use Optimization Plan

We created a Facilities and Land Use Optimization Plan for San Clemente Island, a special area of Naval Base Coronado. The comprehensive plan, the first of this kind for the remotely located installation, provides decision-makers with information to sensibly manage resources and effectively support mission readiness plans within an islandwide context. We evaluated dynamic training and support operations, facilities and infrastructure, and opportunities and constraints to identify strategies that will support footprint reduction, facility reinvestment, and mission growth over the next 25 years. We developed facility construction criteria that identifies best practices for facility planning, construction, and maintenance to promote long-term viability, cost savings, and efficient building performance in response to the unique facility construction and maintenance challenges present at the offshore location.
